Unplanned Break.

Whatever Fridays-Unplanned Break.

Whatever Fridays-Unplanned Break.

Whatever Fridays-Unplanned Break.

I hope that you are having a Great Whatever Friday.

I've been burning the candle at both ends for almost a year, and it had been some time since the last time that I felt like a chicken with it's head cut off.
Are You Chasing the Chicken?
Are You Chasing the Chicken?

As a kid, I did help my grandfather one time in killing a chicken for dinner.  I was in charge of holding the chicken's feet while he took care of removing the chicken's head.  He wasn't too happy with me that I had let go of it's legs once he had removed the chicken's head.  In my letting go I learned that just because the chicken no longer had a head, it still could run around making a bloody mess.

My Grandfather turned around to go sit down telling me to come sit down and wait for it to run itself out.  No sense wasting your energy chasing after it when we still have a lot of work to do once it stops running around.

I learned how to prepare a chicken for dinner, but it's not something I want to do again.
I will buy my chicken from a store ready to cook instead of doing that again. (knock on wood)
The Phone Rang.

So I took a phone call and I suddenly felt like that chicken when it had fell over dead after all it's running around without a head.  Is why I shared the story of the chicken.

Getting a phone call telling you that a childhood friend has past away wasn't something I figured would happen until I was in my sixties, not in my forties.  I went to his memorial, and said my goodbyes, saw a bunch of school friends that I hadn't seen in over twenty years.  We left all going in different directions back to our lives, don't imagine I'll see most of them again until the next funeral.
Life Goes On.
Life Goes On.

We all deal with grief differently and it wasn't until I sat down at the computer to work on my blog that I found myself staring at a blank screen an hour later.  It was then I realized that his death was affecting me more then I had realized.  I did get a couple of blog entries done but they weren't anything that I wanted to post, so for September I didn't do any blog posts.

You can only go so long of burning the candle at both ends before there is nothing left of the candle.  Someone in their twenties might be able to go more than a year burning the candle at both ends, but I'm not in my twenties anymore.

I may of not been blogging in September, but I was still doing a lot of little things. There has been a lot of Reflecting along the way as well.
What Are You An Expert At?
What Are You An Expert At?
I have had my own experiences and run ins with so called Experts over the years; and that the words tends to make me snort and laugh now days.

I'm sorry, but a College Professor that teaches Business isn't an Expert in business. He is an expert in Business Theories. You can learn about the laws and regulations that the governments put on businesses, but you won't learn how to stick your hand out to a possible customer and say "Hello."
